General
The skills in this repository help you work with AI assistants on automotive topics. The output of any AI assistant — regardless of how well it is prompted — is general information, not professional advice. It may be incomplete, outdated, wrong for your specific vehicle, or wrong outright.
By using these skills you accept that:
- You are responsible for verifying information before acting on it.
- The authors, contributors, and maintainers of this repository accept no liability for damage to vehicles, property, or persons resulting from use of this content, to the maximum extent permitted by law (see LICENSE).
Always verify against factory documentation
AI-recalled specifications are informed estimates, not authoritative data. Before applying any of the following, confirm the value in the factory service manual or manufacturer’s official data for your exact vehicle (year, market, engine, and production date):
- Torque specifications and tightening sequences
- Fluid types, specifications, and capacities
- Clearances, tolerances, and adjustment values
- Lifting points and support locations
- Relearn, initialization, and calibration procedures
Safety-critical systems — professional territory
Errors in these systems can cause injury or death. If you are not trained and equipped for them, have the work done or verified by a qualified professional:
- Brakes — hydraulics, lines, calipers, master cylinder, ABS components
- Steering and suspension — tie rods, ball joints, steering racks, springs (stored spring energy is dangerous)
- Airbags / SRS — capacitors hold charge; accidental deployment causes serious injury
- Fuel systems — pressurized fuel, fire risk
- High-voltage systems in EVs and hybrids — orange-cable systems operate at 400–800V and can be lethal; these require certified training and insulated equipment, full stop
- Wheels, tires, and axles — failures at speed are catastrophic, especially on motorcycles
Safe working practices
The skills assume, and never replace, basic shop safety:
- Support vehicles on rated jack stands or ramps — never only a jack
- Disconnect the battery before electrical work; wait the manufacturer-specified time before SRS work
- Ventilate when running engines or working with fuel and solvents
- Wear eye protection; relieve pressure (fuel, cooling, hydraulic, spring) before opening systems
- If a step feels beyond your skill or tooling mid-job, stop — a half-finished job at a shop is cheaper than an injury
Legal compliance
- Emissions-control equipment must remain functional where required by law. This project provides no guidance on defeating emissions systems, safety systems, odometers, or immobilizers, and will not accept contributions that do.
- Vehicle modification legality (lighting, exhaust noise, tint, ride height, engine swaps) varies by jurisdiction. Verify locally before modifying.
- Warranty and insurance implications of DIY work and modifications are your responsibility to confirm.
When in doubt
Stop and consult a qualified technician. Every skill in this repository is designed to make that handoff easy — a well-documented symptom history and preliminary diagnosis makes professional repair faster and cheaper.
